Hi, I'm Kana!
I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Informatics at UC Irvine, advised by Prof. Anne Marie Piper.
My research investigates how AI and emerging technologies can support aging populations and the networks of care that surround them,
including family caregivers, formal care workers, support group facilitators, and community organizations. I am especially interested in how technologies become embedded in everyday care practices, how they reshape relationships and responsibilities, and how design can better reflect the values, vulnerabilities, and priorities of older adults and caregivers.
My work lies at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW),
and aging studies.
